Right now, lists in Trakt function more like collections rather than true rankings.
There is currently no way to manually order items in a list or assign a clear ranking (e.g., #1–#10). This limits how users can express their personal preferences and makes lists feel less meaningful and less shareable.
The Problem
Lists cannot be manually reordered
No way to assign rankings (Top 10, Top 25, etc.)
Lists feel like “saved items” instead of curated opinions
Why This Matters
Ranking is a core behavior for media fans:
“Top 10 Movies of 2024”
“Best TV Shows of All Time”
“Favorite Seasons Ranked”
Without manual ordering, these types of lists lose their purpose. Ranking adds personality, encourages sharing, and increases engagement.
Suggested Solution
Enable drag-and-drop ordering within lists
Automatically display ranking numbers (1, 2, 3, etc.)
Optional toggle for “Ranked List Mode” vs “Collection Mode”
Allow sorting lock so rankings don’t get overridden by filters
Impact
This would significantly improve user expression, list quality, and social sharing. It turns lists from passive collections into active, opinion-driven content.
