Currently, Trakt allows users to rate movies and shows, but it only supports a single static rating per title and lacks a way to log personal viewing experiences over time.
This makes it difficult to capture how opinions evolve or to document individual watch experiences.
The Problem
Only one rating per title (no rewatch tracking)
No way to log individual viewing entries
No space for personal thoughts tied to specific watches
Ratings feel disconnected from the actual viewing experience
Why This Matters
Many users don’t just want to track what they watched—they want to track how it felt when they watched it.
Examples:
First watch vs rewatch opinions
Watching weekly vs bingeing
Changing opinions over time
Personal notes tied to specific viewing moments
Other platforms like Letterboxd have shown that diary-style logging significantly increases engagement and user retention.
Suggested Solution
Add a “Diary Mode” or “Watch Log” system:
Log each watch separately (with date)
Optional notes/review per watch
Optional rating per watch (not just one global rating)
Keep current rating system, but allow:
Multiple ratings tied to individual logs
Optional “official rating” vs “per-watch ratings”
Add filters:
First watch / rewatch
Date-based logs
Personal history timeline
Impact
This would transform Trakt from a tracking tool into a personal media journal.
