Bring back the option to add episodes to history before release date
Hi Trakt team,
Could you please bring back the ability to add episodes to History before its official release date?
Before v3, this was possible and Trakt showed a warning like: “Are you sure you want to add this episode before it has been released?” That was perfect.
This matters a lot for anime, because TMDB often has incorrect episode air dates. With v3 blocking pre-release history entries, it’s now impossible to log episodes we’ve actually watched when the metadata is wrong.
A simple solution would be to restore the previous behavior: allow adding it, but show the same confirmation warning.
Thanks!

What’s with the unreasoned rejection? What purpose does this public roadmap serve, if there is no community interaction?

Exactly.
I made a new request lets’s see.

Yeah, there are also instances where a show releases all at once on streaming but is available weekly on regular TV. This happens often with BBC mini series. The way things are at present, I can't mark the episodes as watched on new trakt even though they're all available on BBC iPlayer.

Please bring back the decision for the user to mark when an episode is watched instead of dictating that you cannot. This is infuriating for a non US user where episodes air early or when episodes show at different times.
The previous warning was more than sufficient as a check. No need to deny the user the ability to make as watched.

This is one of the most essential things that are missing. And it is so easy to implement.
Currently am able to set it as watched manually using the method below.
On PC
1- Right Click on the “Grayed Watch Mark”
2- Click Inspect.
3- Edit and delete the “disabled”
“
<button data-button-root="true" disabled="" tabindex="0"
”
4- To become like.
“
<button data-button-root="true" tabindex="0"
"
5- Now you can use it.

Many movie theaters screen movies “early,” I just walked out of one from AMC. And I can’t mark the movie watched because it hasn’t come out yet. Film festivals show movies and shows early. Streamers drop shows early, like folks have said. International streaming dates are all over the place. Please just let us mark something as watched when WE have actually watched it without newly-added logic (that didn’t used to be in Trakt, so someone/AI inexplicably decided to add this new gate). I’ve paid for Trakt for a long time now and much as I hate v3 I’ve been putting up with it, but this is the first step to me going back to a spreadsheet. Please fix.

Please!
There’s lots of lesser known tv shows that only had a few episodes on TV in the US before they were cancelled.
They later showed in other countries or released on dvd. Currently on V3 it’s not possible to tag those as watched!

Allow marking as watched for future release dates
Following the discussion on the forums:

I would like to propose allowing marking an item as watched even if the release date is in the future.
Sometimes TMDB has different release dates, people receive screeners or other sources (journalists, etc.). V2 doesn’t have this artificial limitation, so it could easily be changed in the frontend.

Allow marking episode as 'Watched' even if it's not aired on TV channel
V3 doesn’t allow marking episode as watched if it hasn’t been aired yet on TV channel even though the full season was released and can be watched. For example, the first season of ‘Ann Droid’ (https://app.trakt.tv/shows/ann-droid?season=1&mode=media) has been fully released, but episodes are also being aired once per week on TV channel and V3 doesn’t allow marking episodes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 as ‘Watched’. Please fix this.
